ReMasters of the Universe details 2

My interpretation of SIr Henry Raeburn, “The Reverend…” is a success. Not because it is the best thing I have ever painted but it was just a joy to paint. It took no time at all and I had fun.

Since the show is not until next weekend I don’t want to unveil the painting in its entirety yet so here is a detail of the finished work.

Once again I’ve fallen in the trap of trying to work out the issues of a painting on canvas without doing the preliminary sketches and value studies first. Oh well. I learn more and more everyday when I paint.

I don’t want to reveal the entire painting yet until the show opens, so here are a few of the eyes I painted and painted over for the “Girl Sitting in the Cemetery,” by Eugene Delacroix

Check out the poster for an upcoming show that I’m involved with many incredible artists.

If you’re local you should definitely come out to the show.

“Remasters of the Universe, is all about the past as reinterpreted by this stellar collection of 30+ artists, musicians, burlesque dancers, and, yes, even chefs.”

I chose two paintings to reinterpret. The first is Eugene Delacroix, “Girl Sitting in a Cemetery”

The second piece is a painting by Sir Henry Raeburn, “The Reverend Robert Walker Skating on Duddingston Loch” Image
